Tumbled to the City is a project started in 2019 and still in evolution.

The intent is to map how rocks and stones are used and displayed around the urban landscape of Oslo.

The series has been printed on thick grain paper to enhance the materiality of the subject, while the binding has been done with an urban and industrial material such has cable ties. The unfolding of the pages can be experienced in different ways, depending on the sequence that is proposed.

The book is an observarion on how a raw and “neutral” material such as a stone is taken from a natural landscape and recontextualized assigning aesthetical or funcional purposes. The idea is also to emphasize the rock as an alien form in the city context, even though they are the most common material consitutitng the city landscape.

The project is part of a borader research on the topic that is taking place in the city of Gothenburg too.
